How Urban 4site Property Group is making a difference:
Urban 4site Property Group is committed to the principles of empowerment, enablement and transformation within the construction sector. Our organisation implements projects across South Africa thereby enabling us to roll-out our CSI programme to a wide geographical footprint within the country.
The focus of our CSI programme is aimed at the upliftment of communities through education, skills development and empowerment. As part of our programme, we focus on recruiting local people in all project locations. Further, Urban 4site continues to give preference to the use of local suppliers to service our various projects.
Our organisation’s vision and mission recognises the need to make a positive contribution to the broad-based socio-economic environment within the communities in which we operate. The roll-out of our CSI programme is thus a key mechanism for realising the tenets of these important organisational statements.
Each region that we operate in has different socio-economic development requirements. As a result, we do our best to adapt a community initiative with the assistance of the community leaders, as well as establish what initiatives are currently active in the region so as not to duplicate efforts. All of our initiatives must, however, be based on our programme’s overarching elements. The elements of our CSI programme are as follows:
Urban 4site Property Group places significant emphasis on the upliftment and sustainability of the communities in which we operate. Within this element of our CSI programme, we support the establishment, and repairs and maintenance of a community’s social infrastructure (such as schools, libraries, clinics and police stations). We further work in collaboration with School Aid South Africa to support the construction of community libraries and classrooms across South Africa.
We believe education to be the cornerstone of building a thriving and sustainable South Africa. One of the key elements of our CSI programme is the support of under-resourced schools by contributing to the supply of books, textbooks and other educational facilities that support the educational pursuit. Urban 4site is passionately committed towards the empowerment of our country’s youth and the upliftment of the girl-child within our communities. In our country’s effort to realise equal education for all, the provision of feminine products to schoolgirls has become a national topic. Urban 4site wholeheartedly supports this initiative by providing sanitary pads to disadvantaged communities.
School Aid is a UK and RSA based charity the distributes educational and extracurricular resources to developing countries. In South Africa, School Aid works with previously disadvantaged schools, providing them with quality educational materials and sports equipment. Each year, School Aid supplies over 40,000 books to schools with the assistance of School Aid UK, enhancing the education opportunities of over 30,000 South African Learners.
School Aid also refurbishes at least four libraries a year, providing schools with a fully furnished and functional library stacked with books and creating an environment that is welcoming and promotes reading. School Aid also provides employment opportunities to community members where the schools are located, providing them with mentoring as well. To date School Aid has launched over 50 libraries.
Skills Development and Learnership Programmes
Urban 4site works with local colleges and other accredited institutions to offer hands-on experience and practical skills development for learners.
Empowering Women
We place special focus on the empowerment of women-owned companies in the construction industry. Partnering with likeminded local entrepreneurs, and mentoring small women-owned enterprises facilitates sustainable upliftment.
Community Recruitment and Sustainability
Urban 4site places emphasis on the recruitment of local people for all of our projects. Further, we continue to give preference to the use of local suppliers to service our project supply chain.
Enterprise Development
Enterprise Development forms an important part of Urban 4site’s upliftment programme. In addition to the skills development and learnership programmes, Urban 4site strives to significantly contribute to the transformation of the construction and built environment sector. One of the elements of our CSI programme is the development of emerging enterprises, thereby supporting a legacy of empowered entrepreneurs.
